Contraindications

Please see you have any of the following conditions before you book an appointment. A refund will not be issued if you have booked without confirming first, and then cannot have a massage due to any of these. If you are not sure, please send me an email with your concern, as some of these conditions only require a Doctor’s letter in order to proceed.

Contraindications (massage not recommended)

If unsure about contraindications send an email before booking

  • Untreated heart conditions
  • Acute conditions requiring medical attention such as (but not limited to): Anaphylaxis, appendicitis, cerebrovascular accident (CVA), diabetic coma, insulin shock, epileptic seizure, severe asthma attack etc.
  • Acute pneumonia
  • Advanced kidney, respiratory or liver failure
  • Diabetes with complications such as advanced heart or kidney disease or very unstable/high blood pressure as this could trigger a negative effect on the body
  • Eclampsia
  • Haemophilia
  • Haemorrhage
  • Severe atherosclerosis
  • Severe/unstable hypertension
  • Shock
  • Some highly metastatic cancers not judged terminal
  • Systemic contagious or infectious conditions
  • Fever
  • High Blood Pressure (you can still receive a light, sedating massage preferably on a slightly elevated massage bed where the head is situated)
  • Infectious diseases
  • Cancer

If it is localised inform the therapist and they could avoid the area or let you know if you need to get a written letter from your Doctor before treatment may commence.

  • Inflammation (anything ending in ‘itis’ such as arthritis, dermatitis, phlebitis)
  • Hernia
  • Osteoporosis
  • Varicose Veins
  • Broken Bones
  • Skin problems
